Dennis Brown Life Time Achievement Award
Dennis Brown was known by many of his friends as the Clown Prince of Jazz drums in London, Ontario who was originally based in Montreal during the 50s and 60s. A seasoned professional who played with some of the worlds greats including Dizzy Gillespie, Machito and Nelson Symonds; Dennis was always a showman who loved to ham it up at the kit, but never at the cost of the music. He was a man who demanded a certain quality from the musicians he played with and almost always was able to inspire it. A member of the London jazz group Jack Kerouacs Dream, Dennis Browns skill and finesse found its way to the hearts and ears of many a London Music fan and will live on there for a good long time to come. Former bandmate, bassist Peter Miller says Dennis was the real deal. Before I met Dennis I didnt truly know what Jazz was, he taught me everything I know about it. There is no one that could touch his feel and vibe and knowledge of the genre. Its a real honour that I got to know music like I did through Dennis.
