JACK RICHARDSON MUSIC AWARDS FAN FAVOURITE VOTING UNDER WAY SEIMINARS TO BE HELD MARCH 29TH
The Jack Richardson Music Awards announce the voting is now under way for the two categories open to public voting this year. While the majority of the awards this year are being decided by a new process involving academies with specific expertise in each genre, the public will be able to have their say by choosing fan favourites in the categories of original artist and cover/tribute artist. Those who wish to cast a vote may do so by going to the website www.jrma.ca. Winners in all categories will be honoured in a ceremony to be held Sunday, March 30th at the Music Hall on Queens Avenue.
In addition, the Jack Richardson Music Awards will be offering seminars, free of charge to the public, at the Aeolian Performing Arts Centre, located at 795 Dundas Street (corner of Rectory) the day before the awards, between 10 AM and 4 PM. This year we are offering a program similar to that offered in our first year, being, primarily, a primer on the music business as it affects those looking to draw more attention to what they create.
The evening of the 29th will also see the finals of the Youth/High School Band event, to be held at Fanshawe College where the bands, who represent various local high schools, will be judged by an expert panel. There will be cash awards and a trophy which will be presented to the band judged to be the best at the gala the next night.
The Jack Richardson Music Awards are named in honour of legendary Canadian record producer Jack Richardson, a longtime resident of the Forest City. Richardsons devotion to passing on his knowledge to the next generation is as legendary as his skills in the studio.
