LONDON, ONTARIO CELEBRATES LOCAL MUSIC AWARDS THIS WEEKEND
London, Ontario, CANADA - The local music community in London will congregate this coming Sunday,
April 5 for the Jack Richardson Music Awards to celebrate all the great talent the city has to offer. The awards ceremony kicks off at 7:30
p.m. at The Music Hall (185 Queens Avenue) and will feature live performances by Olenka and The Autumn Lovers, New
Cumberland, Ffourtissimo, Primus Mens Amabile Choir, Baptized in Blood, Casper the Ghost, and Sam Hurrie. This
is a licensed event that is free to the public.
Musicians are nominated in over 20
categories from jazz and classical to rock and metal to contemporary singer/songwriter and traditional folk/roots. Awards are
also given for live venue and contributor - someone who has made a positive impact on the local music scene in the past year. Nominees
are voted for by members of the JRMA academy that is comprised of members of the local music community. There are also
two Fan Favourite categories that are voted for online by the public.
For the JRMA Youth Category, each high school in the Thames Valley District School Board was invited to select a band/artist
to represent their school and perform at an alcohol-free event held at Fanshawe College on Saturday, April 4. The
winner is selected and announced at the awards ceremony the following night. Tickets for this event are $5.00 at the door. Doors

This years JRMA Hall of Fame inductees are two dance band leaders - the late Johnny Downs and
the late Alf Tibbs. The Dennis Brown Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to
John Barron - Member of The Order of Canada and co-founder of the Amabile organization.
Free Music Industry Seminars will also be held on Saturday, April 4 from 10:30 a.m. to
4:00 p.m. at Aeolian Hall (795 Dundas Street E.). Panelists will discuss recording, touring, promotion, and making a

The Jack Richardson Music Awards - named for legendary Canadian music producer Jack Richardson - is in its fifth year
and is Londons only grassroots, not-for-profit recognition of musical excellence. Jack was chair of the industry
advisory board for the Music Industry Arts Program at Londons Fanshawe College in the late 1970s. In 1985 he
