JRMA Youth Category

JRMA Youth Category Background The competition is open to all students that attend either the Thames Valley District Secondary Schools or London District Catholic Secondary Schools. A panel of industry judges picked the top three bands, the winner is announce that evening and is invited to be recognized at the JRMA Award show the following evening. In 2007, the winners were Exes and Eyes from A.B. Lucas High School, the 2008 winners were Say Domino from Mother Teresa S. S., the 2009 winners were FO from John Paul II, and in 2010, Militant (John Paul II) and Undying Promise (Central Elgin Collegiate Institute) tied for the honour. Last year.s winner was The Wired.
JRMA Youth Category Registration Policies
1. Students that attend either Thames Valley District Secondary School or London District Catholic Secondary School are invited to submit a band/artist to represent their school in the JRMA Youth Category. All members must be registered in school; no member may be over the age of 19 years.
2. No Registration FEE! The first six bands/artists that register are guaranteed a performance space in this competition. You have until Wednesday, March 28, 2012 (or when all of the 12 registration spaces are filled, whichever comes first) to register the band/artist, Remember no registration fee!
3. The JRMA Youth Category competition takes place on Saturday, April 14, Forwell Hall, Fanshawe College. Doors open at 7:00 pm competition begins at 7:30 pm.
4. All submitted band/artist will be contacted by email no later than Monday, April 2nd regarding their scheduled performance times and back line requirements.
5. Every act that performs and follows that evenings rules will receive a $40 honorarium, the three finalists will win a larger cash prize plus the winner will also receive a certificate recognizing them as the 2012 Youth Category winner.
6. The Youth Category competition will be a non-alcoholic event with a cover charge of $5.00 per person, doors open to the general public at 7:00 pm and the first act will begin performing at 7:30 pm. All band members and one crew per band will be on a guest list and the FSU will provide the stage, PA system with monitor plus water backstage. The FSU will also have crew to assist with the set up and tear down between each set.
7. We have limited spots (12 in total) so the first 6 acts that register are confirmed in the competition. If your school organizes a live music competition, contact John b. Young Chair, JRMA Committee at jyoung@fanshawec.ca with the dates and timelines, the winner of these school competitions will also be guaranteed a space for the JRMA Youth Category Competition.
